Garage Door Measurement

As a simple guide to help you measure your garage doors opening, we have included the basic steps below

measurement guide

STEP 1
Measure door opening width and height in feet and inches. This determines the size of door needed. The rough opening should be the same size as the door.

STEP 2
Measure the sideroom.

STEP 3
Measure the headroom – distance between the underside of the door lintel and the lowest point of the ceiling.

If fitting to an existing timber frame, you will need to measure the internal sizes of the frame.

STEP 4
Measure the internal Timber to Timber width

STEP 5
Measure the floor to the underside crossbar

Use only if fitting an up & over door to an existing timber frame.
(You will still need to complete 5 & 6 above)

STEP 6
Measure the Internal timber frame width (Timber to timber width of opening)

STEP 7
Measure the distance from the Floor to underside of the timber frame head

Always refer to the manufacturers specific measurement instructions to ensure correct measurement.

Garage Door Styles

Safelift Canopy Gear

Canopy doors provide clear, unobstructed opening. Doors are particularly useful in garages where clearence does not permit for horizontal tracks due to obstructions such as gas/electricity meters.
